Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

There are no forms of chastening that would bring joy to a person. However, to those who are trained, developed, and conditioned by its affects, and have subjected themselves to power and authority of God, they not only find peace and joy, but also become productive children of God.

Those who are exercised, from among these regenerate adopted children, by the Fathers chastening, are those who convert to a new and living way. These are the born again, or rather those who have been born anew, becoming new creatures having put away thier previous life and have chosen by thier own "Free Will" to walk after the Spirit.

It is not the desire of the Father that any should perish (Matthew 18:14). It is instead, His desire that they repent (Luke 13:3) and become partakers of His holiness.
