Wednesday, October 31st, 2007John 6 - I am that bread of life
When Jesus is tempted in the wilderness, he reveals a great truth in his rebuke of the tempter as He proclaims, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Wednesday, October 31st, 20071 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins
Christ suffered one time, a single act for all of whom He was the sacrificial offering, the righteous for the unrighteous; the innocent for the guilty. “Once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself”. “Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many”, for if this were not true, then “must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world”, each time a person believed and converted.
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth
Having been given the greatest inheritance of eternal life and eternal salvation; if the person will put his trust in this gospel message and believe, he will receive the earnest of it.
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007Ephesians 1:11-12 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance
The chosen of God, being predestinated to adoption, were also predestinated to receive an inheritance of eternal life and eternal salvation.
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007Ephesians 1:5-6 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children
The chosen of God were predestinated to be adopted as children, having been made acceptable by God to Himself by Jesus Christ. This is the core of free grace.
Tuesday, October 16th, 20071 Corinthians 3:13-15 Every man’s work shall be made manifest
All will suffer loss, for all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, and continue to do so every day. They are all sinners, there is none righteous. But our loss is limited by our obedeince.
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Hebrews 12:11 unto them which are exercised thereby
Not all of God’s children are excercised by His chastening, not all are affected and learn to be obedeint.
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Hebrews 12:6-8 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of God. If you think your earthly father punished you, be even more affraid of the hand of God, when in His wrath He punishes His disobedient children.
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Matthew 3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner
There are two types of children, those who are obedeint and those who are disobedient or rebellious. God deals with each of these types in different ways. The obedient are regarded as precious, and the disobedient are chastened. That is the proper teaching of these passages.
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Romans 8:33-34 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect?
Once God’s elect have been translated into the dominion of Christ, only Christ can judge them, and this is done constantly for a single purpose.
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Matthew 3:11 He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:
There are several passages where fire is used by God in chastening His children, and is described as a purification, such as removing impurities from gold. It is this fire to which John makes reference in this passage. John makes reference to two possible outcomes for the children of God. If they believe and are [...]
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Romans 11:15-25 For if the casting away of them [be] the reconciling of the world, what [shall] the receiving [of them be], but life from the dead?
These trees are only capable of bearing good fruit, and as in John 15, are threatened to be removed because of unbelief and/or an absence of good works. If they do not start bringing forth fruit meet for repentance, as John warns them, they will be removed from the root.
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007John 15:1-6 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Whether a tree or a branch, the primary lesson is that if a person does not produce fruit, he will be removed from the source that permits him to be fruitful.
Tuesday, October 16th, 20071 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
We love Him, because He first loved us. God acted first by forgiving His chosen people of their sins by providing a lamb without blemish to atone for their sins.
Monday, October 15th, 2007Does God choose who He draws to Him?
I found this question, in regards to John 6:44 and John 6:65, posted to another blog. An attempt was made to answer the question, but was poorly handled. I have chosen to use these same questions, which seems very general and could easily be asked by anyone, to provided answers in accordance with a proper understanding of Gods true grace.
Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007Romans 5:13-14 Nevertheless death reigned
Paul reveals a distinct difference between death - condemnation - and sin. The transgression of Adam brought the judgement of death upon all of mankind, and the righteousness of Christ brought the judgement of life to all of God’s elect. Consider the question, “If your sins did not bring the condemnation upon you, then how can your repentance of them, excuse you from the condemnation?”
